So What is the Archetypal Tarot School?
This program is a 10-week intensive for intermediate tarotists designed to teach you an archetypal and Jungian depth psychological approach to the cards.
There are 2 things that make this course unique:
1. Many Courses like this only focus on the Major Arcana. This one covers it all.
Over 10 weeks, we’ll wind through the labyrinth of all 78 cards, learning their soul-guided messages that support your individuation. We’ll discuss the mystical, depth psychological, and mythological context of each card. And it’s not just about theory, but developing a practice to actually adapt the skill of reading the cards through an archetypal lens.
2. You can do it at your own pace in your own time, while still being part of the community.
Most courses are structured as either: (1) Live lectures with a set deadlines and course completion date. OR (2) A streaming program that’s flexible but ultimately isolated.
The Archetypal Tarot School is a hybrid of the best of both worlds. The lessons are in short, consumable videos that you watch on your own time, but we also will meet for five bi-weekly “classroom” sessions to discuss, practice, and go deeper. You will also be a member of an active online community where students can ask questions, exchange readings, and just connect.

MODULE 1: THE FOUNDATIONS OF ARCHETYPAL TAROT
What we'll cover:
- The Fundamentals of Jungian Depth Psychology, the psychology of soul
- Understanding the psyche, the Collective Unconscious & the Jungian Archetypes
- Breaking down the convergence of synchronicity, magic, and divination
- The 4 Archetypal Tarot Techniques for doing inner work with the cards

MODULE 2: THE CENTERS OF THE HEART & MIND — CUPS & SWORDS
What we'll cover:
- The 4 Jungian cognitive functions (MBTI functions) and their role in our personalities
- Archetypal numerology and its significance in the cards
- A card by card exploration of the suit of cups and the feeling function
- A card by card exploration of the suit of swords and the thinking function

MODULE 3: THE MUNDANE & THE VISIONARY — PENTACLES & WANDS
What we'll cover:
- The misunderstood archetypal nature of the minor arcanaÂ
- Analysis of the minor arcana through Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey
- A card by card exploration of the suit of pentacles and the sensation function
- A card by card exploration of the suit of wands and the intuition function

MODULE 4: COURT CARDS, COMPLEXES, SHADOW & REVERSALS
What we'll cover:
- The psychological theory of complexes and their relation to the court cards
- Real shadow work and the alchemical stages of individuation
- Four techniques to read reversals through a depth psychological lens
- How court cards connect to our personality types and our psychological growth

Meet your instructor...
Mariana Louis is a professional tarot reader, writer, and educator based in New York City. Her journey with depth psychology began with the discovery of a little book called The Undiscovered Self by Carl Jung in her grandfather’s attic library, which led her to the pivotal decision to pursue a deeper study in mysticism, occultism, and the archetypes. Soon after she discovered the tarot, the Wheel of Fortune spun, and a new fate was forged.
After earning a master’s degree in Western Intellectual Traditions, Mariana launched Persephone’s Sister—a platform for spiritual education and tarot guidance, blending depth psychology, sacred feminism, and witchcraft.Â
Am I Ready for This Class?
If you’re a tarot beginner who’s a little hesitant to jump in with both feet, I totally get it! You may want to start with the Foundations of the Tarot Workshop, which you can bundle with the school to save some $$!

You will have access to the course for 1 year, so if you need to go slower, go slower. That being said, it’s still recommended you try to stay up-to-date so that you can get the most out of our bi-weekly classrooms, as they will be opportunities not only to discuss but to process and practice, which is so important.
If you’re an absolute tarot beginner who’s barely gotten to know your deck, this is not the course for you right now. This is an in-depth program, meaning we really go quick and deep into the cards. Therefore, it’s best for students who have the basic card meanings memorized or at least familiarized.
That being said, you have one year to complete the course, so you can go slower or go back if needed. You can also grab the Bundle Package which includes an ultimate beginners 3-part workshop to stream instantly. That way you can get your grounding and then jump in with both feet (while also saving some $$).
If you’re a tarot pro, this course is definitely for you! We’re not discussing keywords or traditional meanings. We are exploring depth psychology, mythology, and mysticism as if we are collegiate scholars. It will be intellectually challenging and spiritually stimulating.

There will be 5 classroom meetings, happening approximately every other week of the school. See the curriculum breakdown for the dates. With one or two exceptions, these classrooms are generally Sundays at 2pm EST. Dates / times may be subject to change or readjustment if there are unforseen conflicts.
But the classrooms are always recorded and the replay will be available the following day for those who can’t attend live.

This course focuses primarily with the classic Rider-Waite-Smith deck, but you do not need to have that specific deck. Any Rider-Waite-Smith based deck works!
And do keep in mind that while this course goes beyond the traditional meanings of the cards, we will not be focusing on other tarot systems (such as the Marseilles or Thoth).Â
